Life has been very very busy over the last five months! Cannot believe I haven’t had time to post anything since September. I miss my blogging hobby!
2015 was filled with blessings and craziness and mostly strength from the Lord.
Starting with the kiddos—
Harper pretty much potty trained herself around her second birthday! Yippee!
Sawyer went on her first plane ride & pony ride, and multiple since then.
Harper has so many fashion opinions. She mostly dresses herself and changes outfits multiple times a day.
We have a FROZEN obsession and of course know all the songs by heart!
Sawyer says too many words to count and learning more every day. She also LOVES animals and singing… she is ALWAYS singing (if only we could understand what she was saying).
They share a room and most nights they chat and laugh together before passing out! Also, Harper loves climbing into Sissy’s bed to sleep with her.
Harper is 2.5 years old (almost 3) and Sawyer is 1.5 years old (17 months).
Back in May, on our wedding anniversary, we found out we were going to be adding another human to our family!! YAY! Baby #3 is another sweet little girl and her name is Galilee Piper. To answers the most frequently asked questions…
No she was not an accident. We very much hoped and prayed for another child!
Yes, we know how “that” happens.
And, no, of course we are not disappointed that she is a girl. The Lord is sooooo gracious to give us another child to call daughter. What a gift she already is.
Where her name comes from:
Galilee is a gorgeous region in northern Israel. Jesus spent most of his life in Galilee. Much of the first three Gospels of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark and Luke) give an account of Jesus’ public ministry in Galilee, particularly in the towns of Nazareth and Capernaum. Galilee is also where Jesus performed many public miracles, including curing a blind man.
Piper comes from one of the greatest preachers and theologians of all time (in our opinion) John Piper. Both Peter and I’s faith has been challenged, stretched and encouraged by this man’s teachings.
We are planning another home-water-birth and although my “due date” is January 30th, we’re expecting her to follow in her sisters’ foot steps and be two weeks late… so we’re thinking February 13th. LOL.
At the end of 2015 we became full-time Missionary with Global Service Network. We believe the body of Christ is our biggest asset in ministry, so we are thrilled to partner with UPC (our church home). They are our biggest supporter & contributor. We are so thankful for this church and their vision to reach the nations.
This year has been quite a sculpting and transformative year for us. As missionaries our focus is reaching college students, along with young families in partnership with UPC. We feel strongly that God has called ALL BELIEVERS to make disciples of all nations. Peter and I are thrilled to be able to pursue the great commission full-time. We love reaching and spending time with students as well as families in our same life-stage. We love sharing our mission and passion with others so feel free to ask us about it any time.
Thanks to the support of UPC, we launched a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in August with a group of wonderful mom leaders. I have grown in so many ways through coordinating this ministry. Friendships made have been amazing too. Join us in praying for this group of women as we seek encourage and reach young moms and their families. And if you’re a young mom, you should totally look for a MOPS in your area!
Other fun things—
Peter took some time off of Seminary and will be returning here soon, so we would love prayers for that!
In February we will be moving into a home with a bit more space, so excited!
Peter’s brother Alex got married in October to beautiful Bianca! Peter had the privilege of officiating the wedding!
Our deepest prayer is that the LORD would use our lives for His glory. That we would continuously surrender all of ourselves, our hearts, our time, energy, possessions EVERYTHING to Him to do as He pleases. Because we want Him more than this world. We know He is true life, serving Him leads to more and more joy. He makes us whole again, He heals our marriage, He leads us to repentance and forgiveness and grace. His is the only thing worth living for. ALL other things are empty.
“Fight for us, O God, that we not drift numb and blind and foolish into vain and empty excitements. Life is too short, too precious, too painful to waste on worldly bubbles that burst. Heaven is too great, hell is too horrible, eternity is too long that we should putter around on the porch of eternity.”
― John Piper
