Sometimes when you’re chasing after Jesus, people might think you are a little cray cray, irresponsible, insane, or even weird.
Call us crazy.
My husband recently resigned from his ministry position, to move our family of three (soon to be four) to a city we’ve driven through plenty but know nothing about, in order to follow God’s call on our life to pursue seminary.
No we don’t have jobs lined up and we’re still looking for a place to live. We understand that this might sounds absolutely insane to many, in fact most.
Our future still looks like a blur to us, as we have no idea how things will work out or how God’s plan will unravel.
But we DO know that GOD DOES HAVE A PLAN.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
After years of discussing seminary, God moved in our hearts and we decided to let go of the ONLY THING holding us back from taking this leap of faith– FEAR.
fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Can you believe the Bible says “DO NOT BE AFRAID” 365 times!
That’s more than ANY OTHER command in the Bible and that’s one for EVERYDAY of the year, yet we believers so often allow fear to keep us from TRULY following God’s plan for us.
If we really, truly trust Jesus with ALL OF OUR LIVES why would we not just take His hand and follow Him completely??
Don’t allow fear to keep you from fully following God’s plan for your life. Fear is NOT from God, as He commands us not to fear.
The same God who
created the sun and the moon,
invented the universe,
and formed human life out of dust,
is the SAME God we as Christians claim to follow… unless of course He’s leading us to do something we’re not ready or willing to do.
This same God is leading us to seminary and I’m pretty sure that this same God can manage to provide for our family.
Just know that when you grab Jesus’ hand and fully dive into HIS plan for your life, people may not understand where’s He’s leading you, yourself included.
Remember in Matthew 4 when Jesus called the fishermen brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew to follow him? They just dropped their nets RIGHT then and there to follow Jesus. Their family and friends must have thought they were NUTS. Then he called two more brothers fishing in a boat with their father. Well, they left their boat and their father to follow Jesus. They gave up their lives to follow Jesus and boy did they get to be a part of so many amazing things!
It’s so silly to me reading about the disciples worrying about things while they were with Jesus. I just want to yell at them, “Dude, you’re with JESUS!!! The One who walks on water and raises people from the dead!” But then I reflect on my own life and realize how often I worry and FEAR when I also have Jesus! The One who walks on water and raises people from the dead!
So, we are marching forward in a direction that we feel that God is leading our family and we are choosing to trust Jesus with our finances, seminary, finding a home, a connecting to a community.
Life is a wonderful adventure with Jesus leading the way. We cannot see the entire path ahead of us but we see the light in front of our feet, so we will take steps as He lights each one.
Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we realize following God isn’t always a cakewalk, we will surely encounter hardships. I am so excited to experience God in a new way, having NO OTHER option but to TRUST HIM. I’m thrilled that Peter will be learning about God’s Word and teaching us everything. I cannot wait to see how God will change us, stretch us, and mold us to be more like Him over these next few years. We praise God for this opportunity and new season.
Thank you to those who have been so supportive and encouraging to us. We are very excited about this new adventure God is taking us on.
Peter will be attending RTS in Orlando, Florida.
