Marriage Monday: 5 Years of Marriage

Peter and I celebrated 5 years of marriage this week.

I still cannot believe it’s been five years already!! We have experienced many great joys together along with heartaches, all while making wonderful memories and drawing closer to Jesus & one another.

In honor of 5 years, everything in this post is in fives! I’ve shared 5 of my favorite marriage-related Bible verses as well as other fun things in honor of my husband & best friend of five years!wedding“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:2-3

wedding1“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:12

wedding3“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8

wedding4“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

wedding5“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” – Mark 10:9

five reasons I admire him

1- His love for Christ & his desire to know Jesus deeper

2- His love for others & for their souls, his urgency to lead others to the FREEDOM life that our Creator offers

3- His unfailing love, patience and GRACE towards me even when I am so not deserving of it

4- His ability to always see the best in people, to see them as Christ sees them

5- His servant heart, he jumps on opportunities to serve others… whether it’s a friend moving, an old lady broken down on the side of the road, a friend who need someone to talk to, a pregnant lady in  need of a food massage ha ha ha, he’s always serving someone

five things I love about him {so hard to only list 5}

1- His devilish looks.. obviously! such a stud that man

2- His brain… ha ha he’s very wise and knows so much about the Bible, history & so many other things

3- He’s such a sweet daddy to our baby girl, love watching them together

4- His sense of humor, he’s always making me {and others} laugh

5- his Russian accent ha ha. seriously it’s pretty funny!

five things I’ve learned about marriage

1- I am a WAY bigger sinner than I ever thought I was!

2- Books, movies, TV shows will always give us “Hollywood” ideas about how a spouse should be. most of these portray life fulfillment and bliss once the guys gets the girl. The truth is, we must find our fulfillment & self-worth in Christ ALONE because another flawed-human will never EVER be able to do that and holding your spouse to that standard will only destroy a marriage. Allowing Christ to fulfill our deepest needs like finding our value and our identities in Him, has helped us grow in our marriage.

3- Husbands do not have the superpower of reading minds like most wives think they do- COMMUNICATE and express expectations/ feelings

4- We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19… because Jesus forgave us first and for so much, we can now forgive much. His grace is sufficient for two sinners trying to be ONE. Continually experiencing and realizing Jesus’ grace toward me, gives me the ability to also give grace.

5- Life is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more fun with my best friend to enjoy every moment with, good moments and the bad ones too!

weddinghoneymoonI love you babe, so thankful you kept pursuing me in college so many years ago!
