Marriage Monday: Love Is Not A Fight

Okay so I totally have not kept up with this Marriage Monday thing but I’m rededicated to blogging more about marriage. As I have written in other posts I believe marriage is the MOST IMPORTANT human relationship a person will ever have in life.

#1- God

#2- Spouse

#3- Children

Sometimes people have a hard time with this order because they think their kids should come before their spouse. I believe by putting your spouse first, you ARE putting your children first.

If you do not have a healthy growing marriage, your children will be hurt as a result. So, putting your spouse first gives your children confidence in the love you share, making them feel more secure. Your marriage is their whole world, if it fell apart so would they.

Marriage is HARD. I used to feel weird saying this because I didn’t want people to get the wrong idea. I did not want others to think that I was complaining about my marriage, I love my marriage & my husband DEARLY! But the more married friends I make and the more marriage experience I have, I can see that marriage is hard for EVERYONE! Even the most godly or most “compatible” couples will say that MARRIAGE IS HARD, if they’re being honest.

It is hard work but sooo worth it. What a wonderful relationship that grows with the person you love. A relationship that NO ONE ELSE will ever experience with your spouse. You have you’re own special bond and intimacy. What a blessing.

To be completely HONEST, without Jesus at the center of our marriage things would be a mess! Jesus fulfills me and Jesus fulfills Peter, so we don’t have to work at fulfilling each other {which would be impossible}. If I depended on Peter to meet all my expectations and satisfy my heart, our marriage would not last. Jesus holds our marriage together, gives us the ability to forgive and grow stronger. Jesus is the answer to most marriage problems.

These bold words always speak hope and love into my marriage… Enjoy.

Love is not a place
To come and go as we please
It’s a house we enter in
Then commit to never leave

So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
We’ll work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees

Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it’s something worth fighting for

funny

To some, love is a word
That they can fall into
But when they’re falling out
Keeping that word is hard to do

Love will come to save us
If we’ll only call
He will ask nothing from us
But demand we give our all

kiss in car

Love is a shelter in a raging storm
Love is peace in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door
No, love is not a fight but it’s something worth fighting for

I will fight for you
Would you fight for me?
It’s worth fighting for

  1. Love that song. Makes me cry everytime I hear it or read the words. Marriage is so hard and so sweet. Today our house was mostly flooded with a few inches of water – we don’t know what damage is caused yet or what money we’ll have to spend to make repairs. But there’s no one I’d rather stand in the kitchen while splashing in water and laugh at the craziness life throws sometimes than my sweetest love, Dan. <3 Love your posts Molly! Can't wait to chat about babies and birthing 🙂
